My bad!!

Yes, I officially suck. I have not updated my blog in about 7 months. I'm not sure why, I think I just got tired of posting for a while and needed to take a break. I'll try to be back a little more regularly, but we'll see what happens...as you know the next few months might be kind of crazy and busy!

So, our past few months in a nutshell...Grandma and Grandpa S. came out in May and we had a great time visiting with them. This time no outlet shopping in the States, but we stayed local and went to the zoo, museum...you know, injecting a bit of culture into Addison!

In the summertime we took Addison on her first flight into the States - we went to San Francisco, Sonoma Valley, and Fresno to visit Great Grandma, plus a bunch of other relatives that Addison and Dan had not yet met. It was a HOT week, but fun and full of activities...train rides, visiting Golden Gate, Pier 39, swimming, and trying to stay cool! The week went by much too fast.

This fall has been busy prepping for winter, filling up our freezer and a couple of reno projects. Dan and his dad re-did our guest bedroom downstairs - previously used only for storage purposes! The past few months they (with help of some other friends) have been working on our rec room downstairs - receiving a much needed facelift. The plan is to convert it into a toyroom for our expanding family and collection of toys. We're nearing the end - hopefully by the end of this month everything will be completed, then Dan can get working on another time-sensitive project - storage in our baby room.... I'm assuming that everyone who actually reads this knows from FB that we are expecting a baby boy in January, but if you didn't know yet, well, SURPRISE!!

The big things are done in the room, though I'm constantly cleaning a trail of burp clothes and mountain of baby blankets courtesy of a "big sister" who likes to play in the baby's room more than anyone elses! Addie has nicknamed her brother "Little Daddy", which has been a name that somehow has grown on us. Poor kid will be nicknamed that all his life. We do (I think) have a real name picked out, with a fair bit of input from aforementioned big sister. You'll have to wait until January to find out though!

Addie's looking forward to being a big sister, though she initially had expressly ordered a baby sister. When we told her we were having a baby, she also claimed to have a baby in her tummy. When we told her that our baby was a boy, she insisted that hers was a girl, named Paddison. Still to this day, she will tell us all about her baby kicking, doing somersaults, and cooking in her tummy house. We do have a game plan so that she is not confused and in need of serious therapy come January when no baby sister appears out of her tummy. We've got a Cabbage Patch Kid (girl, of course) that she will get when mom and dad have to go have the real baby - I think that this will suffice for her.

Easter Anecdote

Sometime after Addison went to bed last night and this morning the "Easter bunny" paid us a visit. Not a ton of stuff, but enough for a 2-year old. Besides, the Easter bunny from Grandma and Grandpa W.'s house is coming over later today, if you know what I mean!!

The plan: Have the living room all set up with candy and treats and capture the whole moment on film when Addison wakes up. Yesterday we were talking to her about the Easter bunny and explaining what he/she does, and she kind of thought the bunny sounded a lot like Santa Claus. We told her that when the bunny came, they would leave treats in the house for her. I should preface this by saying that every single morning that Addison has ever woken up, she makes a beeline for mommy's bed, at which point we figured we'd head downstairs. This is mostly due to her fear of spiders and monsters in every single room that she is not currently in. We figured we were safe....

But this is a toddler....

We awoke this morning sometime before 7 to the sounds of crying - not a common sound for us to hear these days. Dan got up to get her out of bed only to discover that she was not in her room...or anywhere upstairs for that matter. Nooo, he found her walking up the stairs, with an already opened chocolate egg in one hand, chicky stuffy and bunny straw in the other...it was only a soggy diaper that kept her from investigating the living room further!

When asked why she came downstairs, she said, "I wanted to find the bunny treats!"

So while we didn't get the "moment" we were hoping for, watching her walk around the room with her basket in hand looking for the other treats were well worth it!
Happy Easter everyone!
