Sitting up...kind of

Okay, we're working on the whole sitting and/or rolling over thing (especially now that her baby cousin just rolled over - congrats Jackie!!). Today Addie was kind of propped up against me, and when I let go, she would fall foward, but catch herself with her hands and prop herself up for a few seconds before losing the battle with gravity. Of course I was there with the camera hoping to capture the moment...this is the only photo that actually worked. Most shots end up with Addie doing a soft face plant, or a shot of carpet as I reach out to catch her as she topples over. Not bad, eh? If you want to hear more about Jackie's big moment rolling over, I anticipate that Michele will have it up on her blog soon, so read it at: http://www.micheleandscott.blogspot.com/

Lunchtime!

We've been slowly introducing Addison to new foods. Mostly we're concentrating on the veggies, since I'd like her to actually enjoy vegetables (unlike her mommy!). She's enjoyed sweet potatoes, but hated green beans and carrots were not the most enjoyable experience for her, though she endured them up to a point. For....certain reasons...we jumped ahead of the still long line of veggies and introduced her to the wonderful world of PRUNES!!! Ding, ding, ding, we have a new favorite. Addison loves her prunes! In one sitting she finished off half a jar with that familiar gummy old grin! Poor girl, little does she know that next week we're moving onward to the land of Peas. I think we'll have an ongoing supply of prune food for her though...they do all they promise to do and more

The past few days I've been sick...came down with a cold on the weekend. I'm supposed to be preparing for a run in a couple of weeks. Dan and I are running the 2.5 k in London with our 8 year old niece. On the weekend we did a practice run with Rachel, and she totally kicked my butt. I need to do some practicing real soon or I will be left in the dust come race day! It's hard to get motivated though when my head feels like it is stuffed with cotton! Hopefully later this week I will be able to go out a bit and work on my timing.

Mmmmm....Toes

Yesterday, Addison discovered that she has toes, and is absolutely fascinated by that! She didn't really get a chance to peek at them before, cuz we had her covered in sleepers and socks most of the winter. Now that things are a little warmer, off come the clothes for her! She spent yesterday morning in her diaper and loved it :-)

She's also started moving around a lot more...not rolling, not crawling or walking, but somehow she can scooch over by wiggling around. It kind of looks like the horizontal Moonwalk. Or maybe it looks like she actually has ants in her pants. Quite amusing. During the day, she just moves around in a circle underneath some of her hanging toys. At night she will end up facing a completely different direction that when we placed her in the crib. I'm thinking she might be rolling around very soon...she's getting so close and she seems to be trying to do that; we'll keep you all posted.

Back home in Ontario!

We had a great time in Manitoba this past week. Addison got to meet a whole bunch of aunts and uncles and cousins. I think she enjoyed that quite a bit, as she was a happy camper all week long :-) We were able to visit with some friends, but we missed a few this trip around; for that we apologize! It was pretty crazy as it was trying to fit in some family time; we may have to schedule a longer visit next trip out to Manitoba!

Addison got her very first hair cut from Grandma Stehr while in Winnieg (mommy watched so she could figure it out next time around!). She was great flying in the plane both ways. Dan has decided that Addison is a much better flyer than mommy is (and I agree!). But now we're back home and it's cold and windy outside...ugh! I think Addison has a bit of an earache or something along those lines; she's been a little off today and pulling at her ears. She even went down for her nap holding her ears. It was actually kind of cute! Anyways, we got a whole bunch of pictures from our trip; if you go to Addison's pictures on the right, and from there check out the April album. Hope you all enjoy!

Enjoying Winnipeg in the Springtime

Sorry I haven't been on lately; we're in Winnipeg right now enjoying some beautiful weather! I will have pictures up when we return home next week, cuz I cannot figure out how to download anything on my sister's Mac. I could ask her, but we never seem to be near the computer at the same time.
Addie has been having a great time with her cousin Jackie. On Saturday, they both went on an Easter Egg Hunt. Since neither of them can actually look for eggs yet, both of their uncles helped them. Unkie Cam helped Addison and carried her around with the carrier in one hand, the egg basket in another and tried to find as many eggs as they could. I'm proud to report that Team Addison found the most eggs at 75!! To be fair, Team Jackie found lots of eggs too, plus some non-Easter goodies like bags of cookies and licorice.
This weekend Addison will get to meet the rest of her cousins in Altona. We're very excited about this. She's met all of her girl cousins, now it is time to meet her boy cousins. Hopefully the nice weather continues and we'll be able to enjoy some good times outdoors with them.

When we get home I'll be sure to put up a few pics on the blog; I'll put a whole bunch on our photo album (top right side of blog) Enjoy!

Time for Lunch!

Addison just loves her lunch time! We're only giving her solids once a day, and just a bit at that, but she opens her mouth up wide with a big ole' gummy grin, waiting for some of that yummy rice cereal! She should be waking up any minute now, and then it will be a late lunch today for her. We were at the library this morning and she was very well behaved! She got to meet a couple of the kids that used to be in my storytime; it was so much fun :-). She even held hands with her very first boy today (one of my storytime kids). Her Auntie Wendy at the library was able to get some giggles out of her; it was hard to tell who was more excited, Wendy or Addison! Addie also had another first today. While at the library, Wendy handed Addison her soother and Addie manoevered it towards her mouth and actually got it in! Now if only I could train her to do that at 3 in the morning!! We are still persevering having her in her own room; I think between Dan and I we had to get up about 4 times to settle her down. Well, Dan only had to get up once, but I had a bit of pity on him, seeing as he gets up at 6 for an early morning commute. Just wait until the weekend!

Exer-saucin' Baby!

I decided to do something a little different this morning and headed down to our basement and found our Exersaucer. We tried this a month or so ago and it really didn't work, as Addie looked like she was drowning in the thing. Today we had more success. She didn't really play with any of the toys on the saucer, but she bounced around a little and looked up and gave me cute little toothless grins (notice the little dribble of drool collected at the bottom of her chin!). After a while I thought she was getting bored with it, but the second I took it out she started screaming bloody murder! Guess she likes the thing. She's left her mark on it as well, that's for sure...there is a number of puddles of drool all over the saucer...much like Daddy's shoulder looked last night! On another note, we have made it through 2 1/2 nights of her in her own room! Sunday night we only made it through half a night before we brought her back in the bassinet in our room. We realized we were going to have to bite the bullet on this one, as when she wakes up in the morning in her bassinet, she's casually draped one leg out of the bassinet, hanging into space!! So we will probably both be in sleep-deprived hazes for the next few days, but eventually we'll come out of it (probably in the previously posted year 2024!). Have a great day, everyone!

What a cutie!

Doesn't Addison look adorable? I know, my opinion isn't really that objective...when we go to Winnipeg next week, she will be going in for her first portrait with her cousin, baby Jackie, and she might wear this dress (we have to coordinate wardrobes...but of course!). She was such a good baby the past few days. Grandma and Grandpa W. came up for the weekend to see Addison and she was so well behaved. Lots of smiles, giggles and happy squeals. That's what we like to hear. I'm trying out little hair barrettes for her; they actually stay in really well until you pick her up and then they fall out. Hopefully though it will help her from continually getting mistaken for a boy. Even when she's dressed all in pink I keep getting asked "How old is he?" AGGGHHHH! Long ago, I learned (the hard way) never to assume a baby's gender. At the beginning one of my toddler storytime sessions I once asked a mom what her girl's name was. Turns out it was a boy. Never again!!
