Mommy's little cougar!

That Addie! I took her to storytime this morning, and we had lots of fun...Addison especially! During the story, she "hooked up" with a baby boy in the center of the circle and started giving him kisses - big, slobbery baby kisses. And he didn't seem to mind - he was giving her "baby head butts" in return. And all us moms got a chuckle out of it. Then towards the end of storytime she crawled over to a little 3 month baby boy and started giving him kisses too! Ahh, mommy's little cougar :-)

Highlights...and a few other things!

It feels like forever since I've been on! Our computer is in our guest room, and with all the company we've had in the past 1 1/2 months, it hasn't been as easy to spend lots of time on the computer! So, we have the house to ourselves once again; my parents left on Saturday after a 2 week visit. It was great having them over, especially to visit with Addison; yesterday when Dan took her downstairs, she was looking around (we're pretty sure she was looking for Grandma and Grandpa), and appeared a little perplexed that her play buddies were no longer there!

Some highlights of our visit were: visiting Niagara Falls, New York, swimming in a big pool, seeing an apple orchard in nearby Innisfil;

Addison's baby dedication in church (both of her Grandmas and Grandpas were there, making this an extra special day),

eating real fruit with Grandpa,
and playing peekaboo with Grandma,

baby storytime at the library, plus so much more that we didn't get pictures of, such as Addison teaching Grandma the "paper crumpling" technique for scrapbooking - apparently Addison is a natural when it comes to that kind of scrapbooking!! We had lots of trips to the coffee shops of Barrie, and Addison got to try out many many things that mommy and daddy hadn't fed her yet - like Grandpa's coffee, strawberry milkshakes and other delectable delights. So now we have the house to ourselves for the foreseeable future....unless any of you have travel plans to the Greater Toronto Area? If so, our house is open!

Stuck...again

Addison somehow wiggles her way into all sorts of predicaments...between couches, and now under the end table. It was funny to take this picture because a few minutes later, Addison had had enough, yet could not figure a way out, and tears were shed! She's also had fun "helping" mommy with the dishes!

We had a great time at Niagara Falls, USA. We also enjoyed some US retail therapy at the outlet malls! Got some nice kiddie clothes, cheap! We visited the Fall twice, once at night and again the next morning. Addison was wide awake for the most part, but enjoyed a bit of nap time as well. I actually enjoyed the US side of the Falls a little bit more than the Canadian side, as the American side is much less "touristy". It is a state park, whereas the Canadian side has a ton of hotels and attractions. So we walked around lots; Dan and my mom took a little tour and went down to the bottom of the Falls and got a little bit wet! Dad and Addison and I stayed waaay up at the top and remained nice and dry :-)

Addie the Model!

This past week, Addison got to be a "model"! Our friend Krystle is a professional photographer and took some shots of Addison which will be profiled on her new web page. There were so many amazing photos, it was hard for me to narrow it down to just a few to show you here. If anyone in the Barrie or surrounding area is in need of a photographer (remember, it's almost time for Christmas photos!), keep Krystle in mind! Her current web page is: Krystle Pedro Photography These pictures were all taken in our backyard and at the local park, so Addison was in very comfortable surroundings.

As I write, my parents are just about on the plane out here, so we have about 5 hours to clean the house. There's actually not that much to do, which is a relief! Tomorrow we're heading off to New Yawwk; I've never been there before. We're actually just heading across the border to the American Falls in Niagara. I've been to the Canadian side a bazillion times now, and my mom wants to get her foot into New York "to say that she's been there!" Just an overnighter but it should be fun.

Addison continues to take new steps each day...and I mean that literally! She's walking along furniture and pretty much anything else now. As well, when she is standing, she has no qualms about letting go with a big proud smile on her face, then a slightly panicked look as gravity takes over...BOOM! Good thing there is so much padding on her bum! She's also teething again, the teeth beside each of her bottom teeth are coming through. Still no top teeth!

Back again!

Hello, hello again! I'm back in my blogosphere, ready to update you all! I have to try to remember everything that I planned on writing about.
First, I've updated the online photo albums for August, and started a September album, so be sure to check them out. Next, I promised you all renovation shots. The first picture is from a couple years ago after we painted one of the bathrooms. Both bathrooms were previously off-white (and had the same floors). You can see the old flooring at the bottom of the pic. I put in pics of both of the bathroom floors (we forgot to take "before" pictures this time around!). We're pretty happy with the new floors thus far!

We had a wonderful visit with Grandma, and she absolutely loved meeting and playing with Addison. She also helped teach her a few things (you'll have to read further below for that!). We had great weather while she was out, so we went to Kempenfelt Bay a couple of times, and shopping and out to Kitchener to visit Dan's family. She left this morning to fly back home, so the house is a little quieter now. While she was here, the kitchen always smelled amazing; Grandma taught me to bake cinnamon buns, sticky buns, and apple pershky (not sure how to spell that....can any Mennos out there help me out?).
And as for Addison, she's developed a few skills since I last blogged! Great-Grandma taught her how to crawl up the stairs...she decided to leave the oh-so-fun job of teaching Addie to climb DOWN stairs up to my parents when they come out! She also started to clap her hands, which she finds terribly exciting. Whenever she claps, she looks up at us, expecting us to cheer her on! And the big milestone....she has learned to pull herself up all by herself! Yay Addie!! She figured this out while we were at Dan's parents. She was supposed to be taking a nap in her playpen, but she had other ideas! Addison figured out how to do this on Saturday, and ever since we've been home, she pulls herself up on whatever she possibly can! She also has enjoyed going to the park to play (below she is playing with one of her cousins)

So now the house is quiet again for a few days, but my parents are flying out from BC at the end of this week, so we will have lots of fun and a loud house once again!!
