In!!!!

We are finally in the new house. It is very exciting and very tiring. I think it was a lot easier when we moved to Barrie a few years ago - 1 day later, everything was unpacked and we were ready to go. Add a kid to the equation and we are nowhere near unpacked. Right now this house is so incredibly un-babyproof, I have to spend every moment Addison is awake being so vigilant. We aren't quite yet finished with the renos, but enough to move in. Everything else can pretty much be done while we are here.

That being said, we have pictures!! And since the finised product is yet to be unveiled, I haven't included any of the "after" pictures yet, though we have plenty of BEFORE and DURING. Sorry guys, hope to have a few of the finished product up soon. If I were to take pictures of the house in the state it is currently in, you'd probably think it was worse than the before...amazing what a few boxes of stuff will do. So please click on the links above to see what we started with!

Here, I thought I would include some of the most up to date pictures of Addison. We visited with her cousins yesterday and as always, fun was had by all!! Sometimes I wonder who is having more fun, Addison or her cousins...they're all screechin and hootin' and hollering away having a great old time! Here's a link for some more pics: February/March

(This is NOT my normal hairdo...we were playing hair salon!!)

Still not in yet...

Well, we've been homeowners once again for almost 2 weeks and we still aren't in our house!! We had planned on moving in late last week but we've had some unexpected projects and things just taking time. Nothing bad at all, but there was more work than anticipated with some projects. Dan's dad and uncle have been absolutely wonderful coming over and putting in full days of work all week long...and they are very meticulous about their work! I was joking around here that if it were just Dan and I working on the house it probably would be done and ready to go! That being said, the output of work we are getting from our family is much more quality than probably both of us would have done. So we are going to be patient and will plan on moving in hopefully by the end of this week.
The upstairs is finished - dewallpapered, sanded, spackled, painted walls and ceilings, new baseboards...it is done! (except the bathroom but that is a project of major undertaking that will require a couple years of saving up). On the main floor, Dan's aunt and I have been taking down cupboards, washing them, sanding them, spackling them...and the same to the interior...then they are painted. They're melamine cupboards so we have to paint with melamine based paint as well which is oil based and takes forever to dry (and forever to clean off if you happen to clean with Varsol, go home, and hours later find more paint somewhere...and there's no Varsol around!). So that project has taken some time. The guys will be painting the hall/stair/living room this week plus baseboards and then we are IN! We've been moving some of the furniture from the garage into the appropriate rooms and slowly but surely this house will become our home.
On a different note...I apologize to all my Facebook friends who read this - for some reason I am not able to do ANYTHING on Facebook right now when using my in-laws computer. I can log on and see profiles, but I can't send messages, play games, write on walls, etc. I am able to do this at work, but I am not really a big fan of the personal stuff while working, so I have kept that to a bare minimum. Again, once we get to the new house, there will be internet up and going once again!

New House!!

So we finally got the keys to our house, and yesterday we went to take a look at what we need to do - boy are we going to be busy!!! I spent yesterday tearing down wallpaper with Dan's dad. That is a lot of work...took hours to do! Today we were back at the house (except me, I had to go to work) and put in another full day. Dan will be ripping out the main floor carpet, as there is beautiful hardwood underneath and we will be doing a massive paint job throughout! Our stuff that was in storage arrives on Monday - we've been living out of a suitcase so to speak, since November. It will be so nice to unpack everything once again and set up. We will probably move ourselves into the house (and out of Grandpa and Grandma's house) later next week.
We've taken the "Before" shots of the house and I will try to put them up soon. Sorry I haven't been posting as much lately, things have been getting kind of crazy, getting ready for the big move. Addison is growing like crazy, and has learned to say "No" rather articulately - it is kind of scary. Between that and "cookie" I'm not sure which word she prefers more. She's also climbing stuff like couches and coffee tables and has kind of learned how to pull off the baby gate (ours is a suction, not a swing gate). We are going to be in for some interesting times with that kid, I'm sure! I thought it would be cute to give Addison a piggyback ride last week - now that is the only way she wants to travel...she will crawl behind us while we are on the couch to get to our backs and she'll grab on and expect to go for a ride! Or surprise us if we are sitting on the floor.
Anyways, I will put up pics soon, we will have high speed internet once again in just a few days!! Over and out! :-)
