More from the mouths of babes...

Mommy: Addie, what do you do to bugs??

Addison: SQ-WISH!!

My daughter, slayer of bugs. The other day there was a very slow fly hovering around. Dan made a couple half-hearted attempts, and didn't get it. Dan and I began talking and a few seconds later, we looked at Addie and she had a partial (ECK!)fly in her hand. The rest was smeared across the window sill. She was so proud of herself!
Ants take shelter too - Addison LOVES chasing those little guys around!
And these, I presume, are the moments to cherish?! :-)

Wild Wohlgemuts!

What do you get with 15 people in one cottage, 1 bathroom (plus an outhouse), water, boats, fishing, Risk and Cribbage and a TON of junk food?? It's the Wohlgemut Cottage week! Every couple years, Dan's whole family gets together and goes to the cottage on the shores of Lake Kashwakamak, about an hour north of Kingston. With Addison and her 6 cousins ranging in age from 5-16, there was no shortage of entertainment! Addison loved all the attention she got! So much that she decided that for the most part, nap time and bedtime were more of a "suggestion" than a necessity. Who needs to sleep when your cousins are playing in the next room?
Many of us tried our hand at fishing; our nephew Tobin was the only successful one. The only thing I caught when I went out was a bunch of mosquito bites. UGH. Addison went out on a row boat (halfway out she decided she wanted "out" - NOW!!! Dan took her out on the kayak and had much better luck.
We enjoyed Smores by the fireside; Aunt Denise brought some M&Ms and quickly became Addie's new best friend! She would give Addison a couple chocolates and Addison would eat one and bring the other one to her cousins, or aunts and uncles. She figured out pretty quickly though that she could fit 2 in her mouth and that was the end of sharing!
It was tough when everyone started to leave...by Sunday, Addison was the only cousin left and walked around the cottage saying, "Rachel? Lauren? Toby?" and was quite disappointed when she couldn't find all of her buddies!

The ABC Song...

Addie can sing the ABC's with mommy! Well, some of the letters anyways. Usually I sing a few and give her a chance to say letters here and there. It's always funny how the song ends up:-)

Sing along with us!

Mommy: "A..B..-"

Addie: "C!"

Mommy: "D-E-F -"

Addie: "G!!"

Mommy: "H-I"

Addie: "Lemons!"

And so our song ends!!

Summer Days...

We're enjoying some beautiful weather and as such, are taking advantage of Kitchener's many water splash parks! Our first was on Canada Day; Addison was a little apprehensive at first, but before you know it, she was running around, playing with all of the water-related gadgets and sprayers!! This morning we went to another water park; this one was more low-keyed (ie-not as swarmed with kids!!) and she had lots of fun until some little kid ran into her while running around the pad. She didn't have much fun after that...I'm sure she'll have forgotten about it by the next time we go.

A little bit more work has been done on the house. Almost all of those thousands of little purple tiles in the bathroom are gone (Dan said the sooner I got rid of them, the sooner he could sand and give me a new bathroom! If that's not incentive, I don't know what is! Let me assure you with all the scraped knuckles I have chiseling away, there is blood AND sweat equity in this house!). We spent part of Canada Day sealing/staining our deck. I think it might need one more coat, but we love it so far!

Happy Canada Day!

Hi everyone;
I hope all of you, my fellow Canadians, enjoy our Canada Day holiday today. May your weather be sunny and warm and I hope that you all enjoy celebrating today in whatever way you plan to! And I hope that everyone enjoys a nice day off from work :-)

We're not too exciting this year...can't stay up and go downtown for fireworks...Addie's early bedtime - but we are spending the day staining and sealing our deck. Yaaayyyyy!! Exciting times ahead!
